How will the right answer fit in terms of support and conclusion?

Only the right answer will add support for disagreeing with the conclusion.

*You may associate “vulnerable to criticism” with the traditional flaw question type, but the way this one is worded it’s actually gonna work like a “weaken” question. All the more reason to focus on the answer to the question above instead of just identifying the “question type”.

Highlight the main conclusion in the passage, if there is one:

there are celestial objects in this galaxy that generate light but are not stars.

[SUPPORT]. [SUPPORT]. Hence, [CONCLUSION].

I think it’s less confusing to frame that conclusion as: stars are not the only objects that generate light. If that sounds right to you, then you want the right answer to support that stars are the only objects that generate light. Let’s find it.

Map the wording of the answers to the wording of the passage:

(A) …no celestial objects that reflect light…

Careful, the conclusion is only about objects that “generate” light.

(B) …comprise only a minute percentage of all the celestial objects in the universe

What does this have to do with which objects “generate light”? If you’re coming up with a specific answer to that question, then you’re adding in your own reasoning. We need to stick to answers that give direct support to disagreeing with the conclusion.

(C) …celestial objects in this galaxy are not the only…

Ooh, tricky. This is changing wording around to compare stuff in this galaxy to stuff in other galaxies. That’s way outside the scope (it’s outside the galaxy even, haha). The conclusion happens entirely “in this galaxy”.

(D) there are numerous features…

That’s super interesting and all, but the conclusion is only about one “feature”: generating light.

(E) …not the only celestial objects that do not generate light

Very moderately worded, but it still suggests that stars might be the only objects that generate light. Nothing else on the list got that close to the wording of the conclusion.

(E) is the correct answer.
