How will the right answer fit in terms of support and conclusion?

Only the right answer will accurately complete the conclusion in the prompt that these two disagree.

Highlight the main conclusion in the passage, if there is one:

There is no conclusion in the passage. Neither speaker gives support for anything they say.

Robin: [BACKGROUND]. [SUPPORT].

Kendall: [SUPPORT].

Map the wording of the answers to the wording of the passage:

(A) the distinction Robin makes…is illicit

If something is “illicit” that means it breaks a rule. Does Kendall say Robin is breaking a rule? I don’t think so either.

(B) …a culture whose artifacts were not durable was nomadic

Robin says this explicitly, and Kendall immediately pushes back with that “But” statement. Let’s keep this one in the running for sure.

(C) any evidence…can establish conclusively

Nope, Robin only says it’s “likely” they were sedentary, and Kendall only raises an objection without actually drawing a conclusion. So neither one thinks anything is established “conclusively”.

(D) …is as important as many archaeologists have thought

Neither speaker mentions how “important” anything is.

(E) …can reveal a great deal about the culture

Robin probably agrees, but we have no direct evidence to decide what Kendall would think about this.

(B) is the correct answer.
