How will the right answer fit in terms of support and conclusion?

Only the right answer will add support that guarantees the conclusion. Based on the prompt, the answer could actually be support or a conclusion. So you want to recognize that the blank follow “because”, which tells you the right answer will be support.

Highlight the main conclusion in the passage, if there is one:

Grodex should probably conduct its employee-training seminars using the innovative methods

Consultant: [SUPPORT]. [SUPPORT]. So [CONCLUSION], because ______.

This one is pretty straight forward, especially if you recognize the author is making a comparison. They’re using similarities between teaching school kids and training employees to support their conclusion. The right answer will need to fit that same comparison.

Map the wording of the answers to the wording of the passage:

(A) …began in high school to learn the creative thinking skills…

This has nothing to do with anything, does it? When employees “began” learning skills doesn’t support what training methods their employer should use. This answer doesn’t map to the comparison the author is making.

(B) …are generally more successful than are corporations that do not…

The author isn’t comparing “corporations” to one another, they’re comparing teaching and training methods. And “corporations that do not conduct training seminars” are never mentioned, so info about them doesn’t support the conclusion.

(C) less than half of the employees at Grodex regularly attend…

You’d have to add in your own assumption about how attendance affects training, since that’s a new subject the passage never mentioned. If you have to add in your own reasoning, you’re looking at a wrong answer.

(D) …generally very similar to the effects of those methods used…

Wordy as hell, but here’s the comparison we’re looking for. If teaching adults is basically the same as teaching kids, then the comparison in the passage really does support the recommendation that Grodex use the same methods to train its employees.

(E) …helps people to compensate for deficiencies in memorization…

So “memorizing” did get a mention in the passage, but there was nothing about “deficiencies”. That’s bringing in something new that isn’t clearly relevant. And this doesn’t add to the comparison in the passage, so it really doesn’t support the conclusion.

(D) is the correct answer.
